A turtle spends most of its lifetime underwater but still has to resurface in order to breathe air and refill its lungs. Turtles instinctively squirm towards the water the moment they hatch out of their eggs.

Turtles are equally adept at living on land, but hardly do so. For sea turtles, they come ashore to lay their eggs on dry, sandy beaches, where the eggs are buried and left to hatch.

The second image is an enhanced and cropped version of the first original image to have the sole focus on the lamp post in the middle.

For the two paintings in general, the background consists of mostly cooler and darker colours like green and blue, while the stand-out objects like the lamp post, street lines and shelter are emphasized are warmer and brighter colours.

The white windmill shaped emitting from the lamp is the light ray that shines in all four directions, causing the wet road to have reflections of the light.

The leaves on the tree and grass on the ground are formed by small torn out pieces to give it a rough and plentiful texture. The reflective strips along the road was used to showcase the reflective surface where light shined upon it.

The 3D effect in the image is represented by the lamp post and its light rays, to emphasize the main focal point of this photo. Though the source of light consists of warmer colours like yellow and orange, the emitting light rays and beam appears to be white in colour, which stands out amongst the dark background.

Overall View
WEEK 1: “Deserted Town Treasure
How a man comes across a map of a deserted town that details the location of a chest of gold.

Drawing 1

ONE: This showcases a city skyline of high rise buildings as seen from afar. Buildings with a thinner white line (representing the lights of the building) are located further back than those with a thicker white line.

Drawing 2

TWO: A man holds onto a map of the town whilst overlooking the city. The contrast in scale of the man and the city skyline can be seen as the man is as large as the buildings.

Drawing 3

THREE: The map of the town, which is built in a circular manner, is symmetrical from all directions, with a main focal point right in the middle of the town.

Drawing 4

FOUR: He finally sets foot into town, and finds that the high rise buildings all look the same, with similar patterns. The road to the treasure is a long and arduous task, which he has to overcome if he is to succeed.

Drawing 5

FIVE: After a period of searching, he finally comes across an alley with several doors. One of these doors however, stands out due to a yellow light emitting from the bottom.

Drawing 6

SIX: He approaches the door from the front, with hopes that this is the location he has been searching for so long.

Drawing 7

SEVEN: As he pushes the door open, even more light emits from the side.

Drawing 8

EIGHT: With the door fully open, the light source not only fills up the room, but overcomes him entirely.

Drawing 9

NINE: And in the middle of the room, is what he seeks. The treasure chest, full of bars of gold.
