DRAFTS-Experimental phase

Before the first drafts were made, I did some experimental drafts and consulted on them. These drafts I would say were not well done but it’s all about experimenting! Also, I was still somewhat unsure on the requirements of the project but it is still necessary to go through this stage so that my works are able to be better and that I am able to improve upon them!

At first, i did not know that my designs had to include/represent a certain element from the show/quote. All i did was to design solely based on the quote which was lacking in the relation to the show.

After consultation, I realised that it had to be related to the show in a way and yet not that direct. This would allow for me to design based on the show, making my designs more meaningful.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLDS END:

Just close your eyes and pretend it’s all a big dream, thats how you get by – Jack Sparrow

bad-dream2

This design shows a girl closing her eyes, with a scary-looking figure to represent nightmares.

close-your-eyes1

Similar to the above one, it is representation of nightmares and closed eyes.
dream3-3psd

Also similar to the above two concepts, more modern than vintage.

I realised that these did not have any relation to Jack Sparrow or the show, so i scrapped these ideas.

HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN: Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, as long as one remembers to turn on the lights. – Dumbledore

light1-final

The flower to represent happiness and how it would flow when the lights are turned on.

After consultation, I was told that it would be better that there is a light to radiate out to give more impact which is why I did more radiating in my other drafts. I also scrapped the idea of the flowers as it did not have any relation to the show.

THE CROW(1994) :

IT CAN’T RAIN ALL THE TIME – Eric

rain1

This design was actually too direct to the show because the show is called ‘The crow’.

rain2

This design shows a bald tree in a raindrop.

CINDERELLA STORY:

Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game. -Sam

strike

This design looked more like a logo than a tote bag which is why i scrapped the idea.

strike2

In the end, I scrapped all these ideas and created fresh new designs based on the comments that i received from consultations and i was happy that the designs i made after the first consultations were so much better than these experimental designs!
