Why filmmaking

As a media student in polytechnic, I was fascinated by storytelling through film. When I was 17, I watched my first arthouse film Chungking Express (1994). I have since been captivated by films outside the typical Hollywood movie template such as Wong Kar-Wai’s In The Mood for Love and Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Améile and appreciate them as analytical art.

Personal & societal perspective on making movies

I think of movies as more than entertainment. Movies often reflect reality and portray its current social climate. Film provided me with a medium to express myself and tell my story to the audience.

Through watching and making films, I discover the filmmaker’s intentions and understand them on a deeper level. I hope to share my stories and deliver an emotional impact through my films.
