Project 2 – Zine (Exploring Serangoon)

Before I went Serangoon, I did some research about what are some interesting things in Serangoon. All I found was FOOD FOOD FOOD, CHOMP CHOMP and CAFE. Hence I went down to Serangoon and went to try as many unique foods that can be found in Serangoon.

However, After consultation, we realized that food is a boring topic for the project and it is too “commercialized”. So I’m going down to Serangoon again soon to get more photos and hope to get a new concept from there.

Project 1 Que Sera Sera (Final)

Product Designer

(Currently working towards)

So my first occupation is I’m a product designer. So when I was doing this concept, I was thinking that how do I differentiate product design from the other designers. Then I realized only PD have exploded view, so I created my name by exploding them one by one. And why blue colour? It’s to show blueprint.

Burger Seller

(Dream job)

So my second occupation is a burger seller, so before I got this idea, I used the McDonald’s logo and flip the Letter M upside down to show W & M. But after I consulted with Mimi, she said McDonald’s identity is too strong, as it will overshadow my identity. Hence I come up with my current idea. I make use of the ingredient in a burger to create my name. So first I sketch the idea then I take a photo of it and then trace it in illustrator.

Toy Collector

(Retirement)

My third occupation is a toy collector, so currently I collect legos, Dragonball z figurines, and Gundam. So I make use of the model kit to create my name. I shuffle my name in the design just like what you find in the Gundam models, so I actually place the numbers on each letter, and if you follow the number/instructions you will know my name.!

Loan Shark Runner

(If I didn’t Study hard enough)

My final occupation is the loan shark runner. For this it’s very straight forward, loan shark they spray the O$P$ sign on the wall, and also splash paint or throw paint bombs on your door if you owe them money. So my composition has both of them in it. Actually, just by looking at the O$P$ sign you already know it’s a loan shark runner.
