|Final|

In the first draft, I tried out the composition using the railway track to show the deepness of my drawing. I went on further to explore the meaning of my drawing in my second draft – to show some reluctance to leave a place. Railway tracks used to be one of the most often scenery during my childhood. Therefore, I decided to name my piece: Away From Home. This is because I left my hometown in China when I was very young. I used to cross this railway track numerous times to visit my grandparents from my house. Therefore, in my final piece, I drew a cluster of houses on the left and a few houses on the right separated by the railway track to signify the separation between my grandparents and I in both the physical and metaphoric way. The hand in the drawing shows my reluctance to leave my hometown and at the same time, miss my hometown so much. Now that so many years have past, my hometown had long lost its original appearance as depicted in my drawing due to urban development but it will always be in my heart and mind.
