Social Realism
This painting shows the street sellers back in the oldern days. The painting makes me feel that somebody/something is coming from the left. It’s not a good thing seeing from their worried expressions. From the sellers’ movement, can see that they are getting ready to leave. I feel pity for them as they have to face this type of situation in their life. You can see that the little girl in the painting is so scare that she holds tight to her mother. It is probably a everyday problem that they have to face. (Balance with complementary colours)
This painting makes me feel the struggles they have, the people were tied up and they are not able to escape. It is quite a complex paintings, it can shows a lot of types of emotions that victims have. They have to endure the beatings from the soldiers. There are different feelings in the painting, some people are shocked and scared of what is going to happened. While some are just keeping quiet and waiting to face their truth of their death and the rest are trying to fight for their rights till the end.
Lino Cut
I like this painting as it uses different texture of the mark to show the different parts of the water body. You can also see the lines for the grass/shore. For the water body, the further it is from the shore, the thinner lines it will be. The closer it is, the thicker the lines will be. At the bottom of the painting, there is a person whose hair is blown to the side, which portrays the strong wind in the painting. (Balance by shape and texture)

Dancers & Flowers – Sound of the lotus ’97, Ek Kay
I love how the artist used the continuous and long lines to create the painting. The first thing that attracts me is the flowers (lotuses) and I will notice the background which the various movements. It is very interesting how the artist create the flowers. The artist used beauty of the flowers and the movement of the dancers. It looks like the dancers are dancing around the flowers. (Unity by continuation and implied lines)
Former Residence of QiuJin – Wu Guanzhong, 1988
This painting is quite interesting, the first time and second time that I see the painting is different. The first time that I see I will look at that few big and bold strokes, it will remind me of Singapore Marina Bay Sands Hotel building structure due to the long roof and the thick base, although MBS have three buildings as the base. The second time when I see, I realize its actually the door and the roof of a residence. There is a little red sign hung up on the door, breaks the monotony of the black and grey. I like the how the artist use the combination of black and grey which has a 3-Dimension effect of the door and the wall. (Contrast in scale and proportion)
Moonlight in Borobodur – Chua Ek Kay,1996
I love how this artist painted this painting , it has a view of a person looking out of the cave. This painting makes me feel like the freedom of the busy life and technology. The border of the cave uses thick lines create the dark and the bright side. The area that is nearer to the viewer, the texture is rougher and is darker. Whereas, the area that is further, the texture is smoother and lighter in colour more grey scale. (Radial Balance)
