  1. Good Research! Continue developing your idea and consider what we discussed in class today. You may want to try zooming in on which aspects of Egyptian art you would like to focus on, and pick out the direction or reference of your intended design direction. Your research on the historic background is great, do consider ways you can incorporate modern ways of expressions with the historic studies as well. This will help you expand and add interest to your design; at the same time making it relevant to a modern day context too. 🙂

    1. Got it! Thanks for your comments and encouragement! After the discussion with you, I have reorganised my thoughts on the mind map and further developed my idea as listed below:

For Egyptian Art, I would apply its style consistently in my design of 4-6 diplomas:  (1) clear lines and simple shapes; (2) flat areas of colour; (3) certain patterns for the frame design; (4) a sense of order and balance.

For the modern ways of expressions, they play an significant part in my design since I will compose my diploma design using the principles I learned in our class. I will determine one to four most representative symbol(s) as design elements for each of the chosen artist and express his achievement or characteristic in my way.

      A possible reference of Consistency.

      A possible reference of Composition.

      1. Great that you are doing more research! You mentioned wanting to work on designs for 4-6 different diplomas, are you referring to the versions that you will try out or intend to create 4-6 different design for the final? I would advise that you try out the 4-6 versions (sketches / test-out samples) and show me during the consultation and we will see how you could proceed from there. One thing to note is that, apart from picking out the style, you should also think about what want is your composition and the main graphic elements to represent the idea of an award show for the great artists you have picked out.
