this project involves the exploration of paper
and how through folds and cuts bring life to
a flat medium.
a simple card is more than just a card – it
conveys the heartfelt emotions and words
through a palpable medium and as such
there must be the essence of the human
touch; holding the card akin to a handshake.
hence the choice of typeface, choice of
of colours, the medium of rendering and
every cut must carry one word – sincerity.
concept one
a simple exploration of positive and negative spaces through
subtraction and through the form of loose flowing flower petals.
concept two
a simple concept whereby the main attention lies inside the card;
upon opening two bouquets of flowers reveal themselves, the
unravelling of colours
concept three
the concept is driven by the japanese idea of offering paper cranes
as messengers of well wishes; guidelines are scored upon the paper
to guide the audience to convert the card into a paper crane.
concept four
opening both flaps akin to opening the gates into a garden; it
immediately reveals a flower right in the middle. running paper strip
can be used to lock the card into place, thereby allowing it to stand
and the hollow space in the middle allows for it to double up as a
paper “vase”.
there is another concept whereby doctors could take pictures with
their patients and stick it into the card, on top of having a blank space
for them to convey their well wishes.
