Project 2: The Landscape

Here is my process for the 2nd project.

BEFORE | AFTER

Photo: A quick photo taken at the backseat of a GrabHitch (still prefer UberPool) with the bright lights of the CBD framed in the window. I tried to capture the hustle and bustle of the city through this shot, how everyone is probably doing some sort of multi tasking while on the go.

Concept: To turn it into a 80s style night drive, with cool vaporwave hues; emulate GTA Vice City aesthetics. The bright city in view, juxtaposed against the dark shadows of the car interior. Hopefully the viewer would experience the visuals vicariously through this POV shot.

Technical Decisions:

Shutter Speed: 1/30 sec

Aperture: 2.8

ISO: 1600

Camera: Nikon D7100

Lens: Tokina 11-16mm (Taken at 11mm)

Masking

There are a total of 4 masks in this workfile:

Driver, Car Top, Car Interior, Window

Driver and the inverted version of this is the Car Interior

Car Top

Window

I made simple adjustments to these layers, mainly Colour Balance, Curves and Hues&Saturation.

I used a combo of Colour Balance and Hue&Saturation to get a purple tint into the car exterior.

Likewise, I did the same for the window and the driver, but to get a contrasting blue tint.

I added 1.2 amount of grain to make a little more retro.

That’s about it! Thanks for reading!
