Wooorayy my zine is completed!!! Here is my ZINE!!!
As you can see here, it is a classified file. The theme of my zine is rustic, old and everything else is matte inside out. The matte look will mimic an actual old document file you will find it in or dig it out from those office metal drawers!
This is a follow up on my previous project where I did on the point of view of my brother. Now I will be focusing on people with Down Syndrome in general to raise awareness on how they play a vital role in our lives and communities.
I have made used of my brother here again! This time I have transformed him into a secret agent.
Inside here is his profile. His code name is agent 47. 47 because is has 47 chromosomes and we have 46! His particulars are as follows and the four finger prints you see at the bottom represents the 4 different identities he would be assigned to.

You can see the case study brief on the left. It states that people are often questioning the capabilities of special kids due to their intellectual disability and they are often viewed as outcasts. Hence Agent 47 is tasked to go on an undercover mission! Agent 47 is required to take up the various job profiles that will be allocated to him. These job are all popular dreams and goals of people since they were a child. Agent 47’s mission here is to change the perspective of others towards people with down syndrome by allocating him to work undercover in jobs that are believed to be unrealistic for him. He is going to change those stereotypes and prove others wrong by performing well at work in his own ways.
His first task is to go undercover as a doctor and a doctor’s job is to heal the sick. So Dr David heals his patients with his own method by prescribing then with his special formulated happy pills made from his smiles and laughter. A happy pill a day kicks all your troubles away!
Moving on, Agent 47’s second task is to go undercover as a teacher and a teacher’s job is to educate, motivate and influence his students. Mr David has a simple philosophy which is to treasure and live in the now. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift, that is why we call it the present! He teaches his students to leave their unhappy past behind and start everyday afresh!
Agent 47’s third task is to go undercover as an actor and an actor is a star that shines brightly. David is an influential actor who sets an example as a movie star to let people know that being different is good! Being different makes them stand out, makes them unique individuals that shines in their own way.
Moving on, Agent 47’s final task is to go undercover as a policeman. A policeman is a hero to the general public as they make us feel safe when they are around. Officer David is being a hero in people’s lives by putting others ahead of himself. He goes around ensuring that people are well protected and safe. He makes a difference in people’s lives just by being there for them when in need.
Here is a poster! The blue and yellow ribbon is actually a Down Syndrome ribbon to raise Down Syndrome awareness. The poster says, “I have down syndrome, look what I can be! I am more than what you see.”
They are not mentally ill as intellectually disability is a developmental disorder affecting one’s intellectual capacity, not ones mental health. They are capable people who have the potential to acquire new knowledge and skills, and become beneficial to the society through their own ways.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! CASE CLOSED.
