Second Day of Photo Taking-Review
The images below are from the 2nd day of photo shooting in the hawker area in Clementi.
The criteria are again: (close to) emotionless facial expression, soft morning light, looking at the phone, and face visible.
After editing the whole 2nd batch of photos, I notice the dreamy atmosphere created by the soft light of the morning. Then I thought of one Singaporean artist name Nguan (https://www.instagram.com/_nguan_/) since from what I can see, the artist uses a filter to achieve an almost dreamy like effect in every of his photo (the subject(s) also matters but here I’m focusing on the filter). With this in mind, I discover that the pictures of the persons using their phone in my photo are as if they are dreaming. The reason I’m saying this is because when sleeping, our face shows almost no emotion, hence is the same case as the person in my pictures.
With the previous criteria in mind and the ones I discovered while editing my 2nd back of photos, the photos below are the ones which are the best.

First Day of shooting-Review
For my 2nd project, I decided to take pictures in Clementi, more specifically around the hawker area near the MRT station. At first, the criteria I needed for a shot was a person using their phone but after looking through the pictures, I decided a specific angle and expression which worked best for my project.
The photos below are acceptable since they contain a person in the frame and he/she is using their mobile. Then there is the fact that each person’s facial expression can be seen. This is very important since the facial expression gives us a sense how is the phone affecting the person’s mood. Most people in the photos have an almost emotionless face.
Another thing I would like to highlight is the editing of the photos. For the first day, I shot during the morning at around 9am to 11am. When I edited the photos, I noticed that the soft light of the morning lightened the “dark” mood set by the emotionless expression of the person. Hence, I decided to push the temperature towards a blue tint in order to oppose the facial expression of my subjects.
