Open Source as Culture (critique)

How might the open source system of sharing and developing software serve as a productive model

compared to proprietary forms of commercial software development?

As the article mentioned, the emergence of open source breaks the rule of commercial activity (intellectual -property right / copyright ) &  the existed information source。 However , how can it become a productive model & its merits compared with traditional forms?

Compared with proprietary forms , os  is usually free and flexible (not bound with law & restriction),and it can be produced a lot 。 Such as Wikipedia , it can be written by numerous people, which is very different from firms hierarchy。 Although we can’t deny the necessity of copyright , however  os indeed gives us more convenience & to be another productive model。
