Orbit By Litewerkz x 3M

The orbit is an interactive artwork whereby the audience interacts with the artwork by spinning the orbs. They can also try using flash photography to capture the different effects of the retroreflective surfaces on the dots and different positions offer a different photo. As shown in the picture below:

There is really quite a big difference between a picture taken with flash and a picture taken without it as seen below:

The installation is intended to be a interactive “solar system” that allows people to feel like they are in the vast space. This offers an “other-worldly” experience to the audience. It may or may not also symbolise the endless possibilities and the everchanging of the universe and the planets in it.

There is a motion sensor in each of the “planets” that make them light up when spinned and the retroreflective materials on the planets actually light up when the phone camera light is flashed on them creating a starry effect.

This is a collaborative work which showcases the dynamic movement of the urban landscape. This work uses the sound that the audience creates and the background music to control the lighting projected onto the cloth. During our visit there we saw someone clapping loudly into the microphone to make the lights change. This is shown in the video below:

The installation uses a sound sensor and a program that changes the sound loudness into commands that cause the lighting intensity and amount to change. Below shows a picture of the program: (they put the computer on a table next to the installation)
