Nursery Rhymes – Process I

When project 2 on nursery rhymes was first introduced or briefed to the class, I had a nostalgic flash back of my childhood days. I was reminiscing the childhood rhymes I used to listen to like ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’, ‘Humpty Dumpty’, ‘Jack and Jill’, ‘Wheel on the Bus’, ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’, ‘There was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe’, etc , and my heart melted a bit due to the innocent nature of the rhymes that children will still listen today.

Being curious about how the rhyme ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ came about, I went home to research on it and stumbled upon its history – The origin of Mary’s Lamb.

I used this as my influence and I wanted to bring back to life its history by infusing new elements and imagery into the nursery rhyme we know today.

For my project, I have decided to focus on Mary’s Lamb ( Poetry Version) :
