Why I show you the clip of the Matrix , because after GLOBAL GROOVE & Virtual Bodies , it reminds me of the media theory :hyper-reality
The concept most fundamental to hyperreality is the simulation and the simulacrum. The simulation is characterized by a blending of ‘reality’ and representation, where there is no clear indication of where the former stops and the latter begins. The simulacrum is often defined as a copy with no original.
The conceptual use of hyperreality is consistent enough within the literature to give space for a common working definition for media theory, but the contrasting term ‘reality’ is used in far too many divergent ways to arrive at a unified understanding.
To put it simply, Global Groove , what it wants to present is the virtual body performing in the third world; however, what is the similarity between this work and hyper-reality? As far as I am concerned , this kind of performance is called “simulacrum”; originally, it doesn’t exist in the real world. How can human being move so fast? and then like Japanese ninja. After all , the hurried tempo of life simultaneously indicates the life of modern people , so it misunderstands its audience as if they are always there and meaningful.
Apart from this , I want to discuss the relation between body and art.
As the article mentioned “the most vivid change is the art that is closer to human body;dance”
–Marcos Novax
compared with the real world, virtual space, the terms of body and self are produced differently.
Indeed , there is deficiency in each body ,just like performer acting on the stage, they challenge the extreme and detached with their real self ; nonetheless , what artists want to make is to regain the right of manipulating their own body . But , with the emergency of virtual world , it is possible to fulfill their own goal. Via their work , we should reflect on what is fake or true in our daily life.
