In Universal Studios Singapore, I spotted a restaurant attempting to imitate a Korean food street. While the decorations are attractive, they’re also void of authenticity.

A lot of places do this, perhaps not in decor, but the food tends to be void of authenticity, sadly!

This is what is sometimes referred to as “hyperreality,” a simulation that is intentionally inauthentic, or simply provides the illusion of authenticity. Such amusement parks as Disneyland are prime examples of hypperreality. I didn’t realize there was a Universal Studios in Singapore, it is at all related to the one in Hollywood?
Oh I’ve learnt about hyperreality in film studies! We had to read Baudrillard’s Simulation and Simulacra, though I could never get my head around it:(
And yes, I think Singapore’s Universal Studios is probably under the same franchise as the Hollywood one.
Lots of Korean restaurants in Tianjin, and the food is terrible. Reality of the food, not the reality of the customer.

Haha Korean food is really popular here too, though I agree nothing beats authentic cuisine cooked in the home country itself.

Such imitating culture can bring us fresh sense, let a person have the opportunity to taste the other thing .But they open such a restaurant is to earn money, people may not accept the taste of authentic Korean food, they can only according to their own countries people’s tastes change the taste of Korean food . In such a restaurant, more is feeling atmosphere, if is really craving for Korean food, that still have to a trip to South Korea.
Hi Jiaohua! So exciting that you’ve replied directly!:) Yup I agree with you, the foreign food restaurants here probably have to adapt to the local culture, and in the process some authenticity is lost. Can’t wait to be able to travel and try authentic food!

I feel like such a less number of stores will have fresh, quantity would feel very bad, after all, where still need to keep their own local characteristics
