1st Night Painting

ADM Rooftop, Oil on Wood Panel, 2017

This artwork was painted from the view at ADM rooftop. To balance out the composition, the buildings with lights were placed on the left and right side of the painting. The main composition was the three different layers of the sky, the mid area (buildings, trees, lights) and the foreground of the slope at the bottom of the painting. The focus point would be around the white street light area, which may include the buildings on the left and the tree at the center. The trees and the other vegetations were in different tones. Some were in black and some were added with a hint of blue or green or yellow to give a slight variation.

White Still Life

Oil paint on wood panel, 2017

The composition was based on circular forms and diagonal grids. I used both warm and cool grey tones. The focus point (bowl at the center) had more cool grey tones than the rest of the painting. The blue colours create more visual interest to the painting. The point of entry could be from the bone (top) or the harsh shadow (bottom), which leads to the smaller cups (left) and then towards the bowl (center). The blue dragons on the bowl also helps to strengthen the focus point.
