FV Assignment 2B: Untrashed Bag [Final]

\\\The Spring Roll\\\

\\\Drawing\\\

\\\Challenges\\\

In this project, I have learnt a new skill – crochet, thus I start with a simple pattern to create the pattern that I want. However, the challenge for me is not to learn how to crochet, but instead to be able to finish the whole ‘crochet fabric’ in these short weeks. Thus I have to manage my time well and leave enough time to complete the whole bag. I also spend quite some time to decide on the dimension to bring out the spring young aesthetics of the bag. Lastly, as the project is to use more recycled material, thus I challenged myself to use lesser glue but find another alternative way to connect the different parts together. I decided to go with sewing the bag as the ‘crochet fabric’ is great to work for stitching. However, as I used harder cardboard, it makes it hard for normal needles to poke through, thus I need to pre-cut the holes where the seamline is.

\\\Reflection\\\

I took the chance in this project to learn crochet and using it to explore more possibilities in creating patterns and textures. I have been always going to glue or tape to help with sticking or connecting parts together to form the object. However, in this project, I challenged myself to get out of my comfort zone and use other alternative ways to connect different parts together. I really enjoyed this project as it helps me to understand how I can plan with perspective and axonometric drawing before I start making the product in real life as well as planning how the details of the bag will look before making it. Previously, I am used to experimenting by making the product in real life with only simple sketches and little planning. With the help of axonometric drawing, I can look into the planning with more details before I started making my bag.
