Presentation Format

Like a typical Elaine, Elaine will choose the corner as her friends are too good and she would rather not shine under the spotlight. Additionally it is a powerful tool for this project, showing the juxtaposition in her works. Heh heh heh.

2D II (1/3) – POV

This project is finally over!!! Oh how hard it is.. It is much deeper than anyone expect, it feels like i need to convey some message to everyone.

Despite all that, the style of my works stay light-hearted. Since this project encourages us to go into 2D format rather than a 3D format, I have decided to stick to digital illustration, something that i always did during my spare time.

ARTIST REFERENCES

My topic for this project would be about hipsters. Since i have limited knowledge about how they behave other than just being wannabes, I decided to intensify my research on them. Hence, i started with the easiest platform: Instagram because it was the trendiest app now.

Researching further had landed me into one of the instagram accounts of socalitybarbie. It was an account where the person mocks hipsters while dressing up her barbie doll with style.

Initially, i wanted to do a photography style, but due to time constraints, thus i stuck to digital illustration.

illustration-wise, i was inspired by an artist called Andy Rementer. His bold strokes and usage of bright colours drew me into his works. Presentation was inspired by juxtaposition posters we see all the time. (sketchbook)
