Last experiment before I did my final work. This time I have settled down with the concept of using “Love” as my theme. As Love is first felt at home, therefore I chose something that is a necessity at every household. It is the 7 condiments: 柴米油盐酱醋茶.
柴 – wood
米 – rice
油 – oil
盐 – salt
酱 – soy sauce
醋 – vinegar
茶 – tea
As I’m unable to obtain wood, therefore I substitute it with tree branch.
Tried scribbling with tree branches, to show frustration and dismay

After multiple attempts, trying combinations of different mediums, and going through emotional roller coaster, my Final work is done!
This is curated base on the story “The Little Match Girl”, but with a twist.
“During the festive of Happiness and Surprise, a little girl Hope and Long for some Compassion from strangers, to buy her matchstick. But to her Despair, strangers were either Frustrated or Loathed when asked. In Dismay, she Feared and Worry that she’s unable to earn some money to feed her ill mother. In the midst of the cold weather, she looked into the brightly lit households. She’s Envy of the Blissful life they lead.
Cold wind hit hard on her fragile body, she decided to strike a matchstick to keep herself warm. To her Amazement, she saw a roast chicken in the midst of the flame, but was Disappointed with the short fulfilment.
The little girl was Alarmed when an old couple called for her. She was Astonished when the old couple gave her a bowl of hot white rice. They said that was all they could offer and left. This festive night, the little girl felt “Love” from strangers for the very first time.”
I decided to give the original story a little twist, to show that just by giving a little “Love”, we can actually save someone.
In conclusion, I felt fulfilment through this assignment, from doing mark making to crafting each strips of emotions. I’ve also learnt a few things along the way, like how and what is mark making, what you thought may not be the outcome, and also alignment is very important. Each and every learning point helped me to the end of my Project 1.
This is the end of my Project 1!
