Micro Project 0. Displacement on the Networked Space

Beyond Space Time

The idea was simple.

  1. Invade my highly curated instagram space and take over.
  2. Spaces are those who make them. The space, nor the image, matters.

Spaces within ADM were chosen firstly because of their significance to me, the impact of the memory and the people present/changed/affected the space.

As I skateboarded around campus, I begin to relive, meditate and give myself space to reconcile and thank the space before taking the image. The image making was deliberately abstract. By utilizing my iPhone X’s 10X tele zoom capability, I would snap a shot of a significant object or a distinct landmark that would set this place apart from others.

Some memories are too personal to be shared, thus some images and locations are left void.

1 is taken from the ADM Bus Stop. The first thing I saw of ADM when getting off the 179 bus stop as I headed towards orientation camp. It is black because it was taken at night.

2 is the ADM Lobby where the cold hard floors were a chill spot to wait for our grab during nights where we missed our last bus.

3 is the metallic backs of the iMacs that line our Interactive Workshop. This was especially challenging for me as the room was filled with seniors rushing their final year project. I was pretty close to them and it is strange to not have them around anymore.

4 is the Truss Room. Nights have been spent here to get projects working.

9 is the sunken plaza. The view of the night sky on 10x zoom is pretty much the same view as the last night of orientation camp that I handled as I fell asleep on the benches.

In a networked space, it is important that we have private corners to express and let go. This exercise was especially freeing as someone who is ending their school journey soon.
