Fan-fiction : Lost Time

I did my fan-fiction based one Jiaojun’s —- Here goes nothing

The strong smell crept up on Mabel forcing her to wake up. Struggling to adjust to her surrounding, the blinding light that is casting down on her is not helping at all. Probably from the fact that she was resting on her legs for too long, she tumbled forward. Cursing her rotten luck, she looked up to realised that she was face to face with a huge metal door. The gears on the door somehow made it more menacing than it wass supposed to be. “Wow…” the small exclamation escaped from her as she tried to pick herself up.

“How did I even end up here? What is even going on?” thinking out loud, she tried to remember what she did yesterday night that brought her here. All she could recall was the fact that she got into her cozy bed.

DONGGGGGG. The 10th interval of Oscilla sounded so deafening down the hallway that it resounded through Mabel’s body. Just then footsteps could be heard approaching from a distance, “no no no noo…” She started panicking, not knowing where the footsteps were coming from.

Before she know it she was on the floor again, although this time it was a glass floor. “AHHHHHHH!!!!” Mabel shot up from the floor, stumbling to get away from the terrifying thin layer of safety that was barely supporting her. The ginormous gears grinding against each other below her was not at all helping her to calm down. She gulped. It was when she heard shuffling beside her. She was not alone. She snapped into that direction.

There stood two figures which seemed so ever familiar to her but yet she could not put her finger on it. Behind them was the huge door that she was facing earlier. The female gave her a queer look like Mabel was doing weird.

“What were you even doing out there, Mabel?” questioned the female. Mabel now was just really confused. The fact that the lady knew her name but she had no recollection of ever meeting the lady before. She must have a really stressed out look on her face as the male approached her with a embarrassed smile.

“Sorry to scare you there but you probably shoudn’t be here. We apologise for not coming back to you yesterday. Something got caught up at work,” explained the male.

Mabel forced a smile at the male, “Sorry but may I know who you guys are?”

The male’s brows knitted before exchanging worried looks with the female. The female tried to say something but was cut-off by the male. “I am Aidan and this is Alyssa. I apologised for not introducing ourselves earlier.”

Mabel unknowingly felt relieved after hearing their names. Judging from the way they reacted, they seem to have known her for quite some time now. Alyssa tapped on her wrist signalling to Aidan that it is time to get moving before already getting a move on towards the stretch of bridge on the opposite side of the huge door. Aidan got up before lending Mabel a hand.

“So how exactly did you get in here? I thought the security was pretty tight outside?” Alyssa stated.

“Honestly, I am not really sure. I was in my bed yesterday night and before I know it I was on the floor along the hallway.” explained Mabel. Alyssa and Aidan stopped in their tracks before exclaiming together, almost too loud that it echoed through the space.

“WHAT?”

“What did you mean you were in your bed yesterday?”

“You have been staying with Alyssa for quite sometime now because your room was destroyed.”

“We thought that you had went to explore the area again when you disappeared from your bunk.”

At this point Mabel started to get freaked out. She was not really sure if she should believe them. She had no memory of what they told her at all. She just gave them a forced smile again, before trying to walk away from the situation. Obviously Alyssa would not give it a rest. She hammered Mabel with a lot of questions while Aidan tries to smooth them over. For the rest of the intervals, Mabel followed those two around work, learning and helping out with the entire shift.

Stretching her body, Alyssa let out a sighed, the day is finally over. Mabel glanced at the two beside her, smiling to herself. Today was actually not that bad considering how she was bombarded by information that barely makes any sense to her. It was then the Oscilla struck again signalling a new set of intervals.

Aidan spun around just about to ask Mabel what she wanted for supper before realising that she had disappeared. Alyssa and Aidan were both terrified and worried at the moment. This had been going on for a few days now. Mabel would suddenly disappear from their sight before they find her somewhere exploring the streets. They were tearing through the city now in search of her. At this point in time the city had pretty much shut down from the days work, everyone was supposed to have gone back to their quarters.

The whole city was in dead silence. Alyssa and Aidan were starting to grow more and more desperate now. They had known Mabel for quite some time. Mabel was in probation for probably a few sets of intervals before they allowed her to join them for daily activities. Generally people would only be in probation for as long as a set of intervals. So the fact that Mabel was in there longer than usual just seems dubious.

Adding on to the fact that weird things has started happening to Mabel ever since she was caught up in the destruction of her own quarter. Right then the city’s “moon” just cast so every gently on Mabel’s body.

They ran up to her checking to see if she was still breathing. “Mabel? Mabel! Mabel, can you hear me?” gasped Alyssa, shaking her gently to try to wake her up. Aidan was just next to Alyssa looking for any sign of injury. Stirring up from her little nap, Mabel stared at them for the longest time. Alyssa was just so relieved she bought Mabel up to a hug. Aidan still feeling weirded out asked Mabel, “So… How did you get here?”

That was then Mabel who was still shocked from Alyssa’s crushing hug blurted out, “Who are you guys?! I thought I was in my bed just awhile ago?!”
