The story begins in your village, a deserted wasteland filled with nothing but junk and scrap metals. What was once a flourishing metropolitan city with highly developed infrastructures, and a healthy population, is now a land so barren that it can hardly sustain a population of a hundred persons. The war has led you two, alongside the other survivors to the path of survival and together, you all have formed a community named the scavengers. Over the years, the survivors have learnt to work well with one another and developed a sense of trust and belonging in the community. The situation gradually stabilized and people eventually adapted to their new lives.
Like any other day, it started with the daily briefing by the clan leader, Johan where he would prepare the members on the mission for the day ( gathering food resources ) as well as providing the health status of the clan.
He makes a point to reiterate the importance of unity within the Scavengers before dismissing the members for their work. You then went straight to the maintenance room and the armory to withdraw your weapons and equipment for the hunt.
Today is Kairo’s first day attached to a hunting squad. He was previously assigned as a mechanic and had spent most of his time repairing the hoverboards, the racers as well as maintaining the weapons in the armory. One of Alex’s squad member has reported sick and so, Kairo was sent in as a replacement for the day.
Alex assembles his hunting squad and then they take off in his racer, off they go to the forested area right outside the wasteland. Kairo is seating at the back seat, having mixed feelings about his first expedition out of camp site. The rest of the squad members inside the racer are engaged in their own conversations and it seems like no one noticed Kairo’s presence, except for Alex. He takes a glance at his rear view display to check on this kid that he has never met before, despite being in the community as long as Kairo did. At that moment, Kairo happens to make eye contact with Alex through the mirrors and … …
What are your first impressions you have for the opposite party ( i.e. suspicion, skepticism, etc. ) or what are some of the thoughts you have?

In this dangerous society, being cautious and alert is imperative to survival. Therefore, after sensing that somebody is looking at me, I immediately looked up. It was Alex, that overly optimistic dude I have never talked to, well, I never talk to anybody here. He gave me a smile through the mirror but I did not reciprocate. I know he’s genuinely nice, but I have no time nor the energy to try building any sort of relationship with anybody. After all, in this difficult time, nothing is forever.
“Ah ha, some fresh blood in the team,” I thought to myself. “Doesn’t seems to be the chatty kind. He will need to blend into the team fast. Survival in the wasteland is all about looking out for each other. Depending on oneself will just means reporting to hell early.”
I take another glance at him and focus on the road ahead. Hopefully the trip will be a fruitful and swift one and of course a safe one.
soon after, your squad arrived at the designated hunting ground, deep inside a forest. You guys find your way to a glade within the labyrinth of these ginormous trees and set up your post. 2 of the squad members stayed behind to man the post while the other 4 members, which include Alex, the squad leader and Kairo, set out to hunt for food. As an experienced squad leader, Alex understands the importance of unity and cooperation in a quest like this and he warns every member to stick to the group at all times, unless told otherwise.
Hours into the hunt, it is time to regroup and head back to base. Today’s haul is a little underwhelming, with enough food stock ( mainly berries, fruits and 3 average sized boars ) that could only last two to three days. You are about to walk back to base when all of a sudden, you notice this unusual rustling noise coming from the bushes that broke the silence. Something is out there, watching you. You see this pair of eyes staring right back at you. As you all huddle closer to one another in anticipation for the worst, a large silhouette emerges from behind the bushes: it was a Humanoid. At this point…
Alex, what would be your next move?
“Holy moly!” I exclaimed. Even after years of messing around in the wasteland I still feels nervous whenever I encountered with danger. I immediately fired a shot with my B471 Adventurer assault rifle at the Humanoid and threw a confusion smoke grenade along the way.
“Every one get your asses moving! We are getting the hell out of here!’ I roared while firing a few more shots at the Humanoid. I searched around for the sign of Kairo in the midst of running away from the Humanoid and was relief to see him keeping up with the rest of the group.
“Hey you!” I screamed at one of the guys in the group. “Get on the comms and tell the lads at the racer to get ready!”
Just then, I felt a mixture of heat and light whistling past my face and hit an abandoned house in front of me. The house exploded and shattered into pieces liked it was made of paper.
“We are so so screwed,” I thought to myself.
Alex directs the group to escape as quickly as possible while he stays back to distract the humanoid and buy the rest some time. The shots from Alex’s rifle seems to be ineffective against the humanoid’s armor and the humanoid starts turning its attention towards Alex, with his blaster ready to engage. Upon noticing it, Alex decided to flee from the battle and retreat from the humanoid’s blaster.
At this point, Alex is to roll the dice against your agility. To escape unscathed, points must be more than 6.
( Single dice roll to be 4 or higher, given your agility level is 3)
Meanwhile, as Kairo and the gang tries to run for their lives, he takes a quick look to his back and realizes that Alex is being caught up in a fire fight against the humanoid. Kairo is caught in a dilemma this time: he is afraid that the humanoid will catch up with him and annihilate him but he cannot bear to leave Alex behind to battle.
Kairo, what is your next course of action.

“Oh shit.” I thought to myself.
The situation looks grim and my head is shouting at me to run away. But I can’t leave him there. I dug around in one of my pockets and managed to find the mini deflector I made a while ago. It only have enough power to be used once but I have to give it a try. I ran back to where Alex was trying to hide behind the safety of a tiny waste metal hill. He mouthed anxiously at me to get away but I ignored him.
My palm was sweaty with fear, it was a chance I have to take. I gathered all my strength and shouted at the humanoid in a bid to get its attention.
“Hey! Look here big boy!”
As I predicted, the humanoid turned away from Alex and turned his blaster towards me. The moment I saw a ball of fire gathering at the barrel of the blaster, I too raised my deflector at him and activated it.
Then, I closed my eyes and pray.
Given Alex’s quick reflex and agility, he successfully dodges the beams and quickly goes into hiding. He hides himself behind some tree cover. He is terrified and he knows that there is a good chance this will be the end for him but he will not go down without putting on a fight. He pulls out a hand grenade from his pocket and removes the pin whilst clutching onto the release trigger, awaiting for the right moment. He plans to bring the humanoid down with him. But, just as he is about to charge at the humanoid, he heard a familiar voice…
“Hey! Look here big boy!”
Shortly after, Alex hears a loud explosion. He fears that the humanoid has eliminated Kairo and so he immediately pops out his head and shouted:
“Kid!!!”
In his disbelief, he sees Kairo standing right there next to the humanoid’s corps, unharmed and unshaken. And at that moment, he knows that the kid is destined to be a hunter. He walks right towards him.
“You saved my life…”
Kairo replied nothing but a smile.
