4D Project 2: Sequentially – Impossibilities of being

Creative Process from Tan Wei Ming on Vimeo.

My idea is to show the (creative process) through turning into a LEGO character.

Why LEGO? LEGO means Imagination (thinking process needs imagination)

There are 4 key transformation throughout the 90 images. The objects / locations I used have it’s own secondary meaning.

1. Indoor (Thinking inside the box)

9Toilet bowl (Gender stereotype)

10Getting changed (social pressure)

21Making coffee (Trap by money: food on the table)

25Reading news (Controlled media)

2. Outdoor (Thinking outside the box)

27Keys (Freedom = Think Freely)

34Exploring plants (A new life = a new start in thinking)

46Playing the slide (Learning through fun and experience)

3.Playing with friends (exchange ideas)

74Doing the same thing together (achieve different results from different people)

PrintSitting in circle talking (Exchanging ideas through discussion)

4.Nightmare (Being criticize)

PrintRunning away from human (Being criticize by a superior)

PrintBeing place in a box (back to square one, thinking in the box again)

In the end, I woke up and it was just a dream.

Learning points

  • Using the same photo but at a different situation creates 2 different meaning. (lift going up or going down)

Improvements

  • I should have explore more places to take photographs.
  • I should have make the colours stronger in each photos.
