@ Scarlet Sunday

Design Aims

To design a button badge that – is interesting, fun, appealing to the volunteers as a collectible, and portrays the work the volunteers do.

Design should also contain the potential to be edited and made into a series.

Design Concepts

Good start. What you have got there mostly are mostly graphic representation which are already finished design. What you need to find in your mood board are photographic images eg the lady and child to suggest people and connection, the graphic exploration and translation could lead to the hugging image you found. So moving forward, look for photographic images that represents the initial idea. Eg Bubbly, what are the visual images - bubble gum, candy, child jumping on a trampoline....

Observation Notes

About Ng Teng Fong Hospital:

Corporate, but friendly due it’s efforts at putting art works around, giving the environment a more lively and vibrant feel. Many people walk through the hospital grounds to get from mall to mall (eg. JEM through the hospital, to IMM) Walking through it is made fun and a little more interactive with educational art put Read more →
Good start, keep growing the words and images!

Observation notes:

During the trip to NTFGH, we were brought around art elements around the facility be it the work of collaborating artist, staff and even patients. As i observe the artworks that were displayed, many of them seem to be under the theme of plants and memories. It is also observed that these works are often slightly abstract.

Good observation and some really useful works: transformation, warmth healing fun care, do not forget about art :) Will be useful to explore how you can incorporate notion of art you your visual exploration.

Design aim: The client, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital requires a new logo design to be used on the button badge for their Arts on the move volunteer program. A design that reflects the programs values, passion and purpose.

Keywords: Expressive Evoke Love Create Harness creativity Create Hands on Support Community Voice Connect Heal Positive Distraction Companion

Rationale:

Concept 1: The hand can be seen as both patient and volunteer, the patient’s hand is connecting with the paint palette representing Read more →

Great grasp of the project brief and have some very useful and relevant key words, Expressive, Support, Community, Heal
Positive Distraction. Will be great to expand on the list of nouns that you would associate with the art on the move. I see you used palette, paint. Do give your concept a title: eg concept 1 Caring and healing with art. Is it just one hand? how would meaning change with 2 hands, whose hands, the gesture of the hands. is it an exchange or connection. The palette appears still at the moment. How can you convey fun, enjoyment, up lifting spirit? Concept 2 seems to dealing with freedom and losing sense of time. Heart shape is a good start, explore other shapes.

Observation Notes: During our visit to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital last week, I realized that this particular hospital does not look like other hospitals such as KK hospital/ SGH. Instead of just having posters and some banners from the health promotion board, they actually include different artworks from various local artist and even artworks done by their patients such as Read more →

looking forward to more details on key words and images.

Environment (Interior):

– There are travelators in hospital.

Good job on the detailed observations and a good start. Do consider the incorporation of art materials/ tools as a word and visual elements and title your concepts. eg. concept 1 could be energised by the art. The rainbow is a good start, but I would like to encourage you to think and explore where does the rainbow come from? the tools? arts? connection between people. These are qualities that you can still further explore. For your third concept, Swan is a gentle creature. I also get the idea of caring that you consider, but i think it lacks the inclusion of the creative element that the art programme deals with. so may be something to play with and include.

Very good start with detailed observations. there are some ideas that I think are useful eg empathy, connections and giving (support?). Will be great if you can list out words to elicit nouns that help describe the concepts like empathy - image of nurse talking to patient with arm over a patient.   In your exploration moving forward, Consider the relevance and associations, cultural readiness of signs and appropriateness.
recharge or energy booster may be words to consider too
