Sketch Exploration:

Typeface Explorations: The feedback I got back was the placement a little too chunky and could play more on the placement.

Others: Michael suggested I could remove the center line since the letter ‘A’ is pretty obvious.

Refinement: Explored different placement and adjusted the kerning for certain characters.

After the feedback gathered in class, I made some changes to my pencil design such as making the swoosh downwards instead of up and integrating an element of “community” in the design.

After more feedback from Michael, I decided to add more visual weight in my design and change the text font as well as orientation.

Final Presentation Process

In my final presentation, I prepared a set of explanatory cards along with a prototype of the final badge. This way, I could see how the badge look in real context and support my explanation during the my presentation.

Different colour choices:

Pink and yellow work best compared to the other that were too dark or competed for attention against the turquoise vest. I changed the red to pink as the red was not an exciting colour and may have been misinterpreted as the colour of blood.

Design Aim: To design a badge for volunteers- to convey a message: Volunteers who willing to give unconditional love for patients, caring them as much as they can and accompany them. Also, to deliver the message of Art on the Move program. For example, volunteers carry out the activities with patients at their bedside.
