emo – emotions

the 18 emotions that i’ve selected are

Infatuation:

an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone or something.

ah infatuation, definitely an emotion that makes your heart go crazy at times. *heartbeat*!

Sentimentality:

exaggerated and self-indulgent tenderness, sadness, or nostalgia

cool-hat-man-500x333 father-sentimental-feature 8821_60933_403_attic reminiscing-and-discussion-groups-interactive-life-enrichment

an emotion with LOTS of emotions attached to it. i definitely experience this emotion quite a bit because i get sentimental to the littlest of things. i love digging up old items and reminisce over them; a gush of memories start flowing in my mind; making me feel all fuzzy (i sometimes start choking up, lol yes im such a baby).

Desire:

to wish or long for; crave; want

a desire for wanting more. go and reach out and grab it!

Relief:

a feeling of reassurance and relaxation following release from anxiety or distress.

relief is definitely an emotion that you feel like yOU CAN FINALLY BREATHE AGAIN (especially after submissions).

“a sigh of relief”

Optimism:

hopefulness and confidence about the future or the success of something.

a hopeful emotion that makes you feel calm for the moment and the future. just like, you keep walking but you arent getting anywhere and your mind clouds your mind to give up but NO! you’re hopeful and tell yourself that you’ll be fine and that you will get there and GUESS WHAT YOU SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. *pats back*

Bliss:

perfect happiness; great joy.

bliss to me is when my heart is calm, alone (but not lonely), and feeling happy and contented with what life has installed for me. i do take a moment to appreciate everything around me when i feel that way, the people, the smallest and simplest moments. my heart and emotions start cruising ~ ~ ~ just like wiggly lines ~~~

Amazement:

a feeling of great surprise or wonder

not sure why but i visualize a mean lady shouting at me with a background of lighting flashes whenever i see the word ferocious… too much movies?

all you need is to vent your anger with force..

Jealousy:

feeling or showing an envious resentment of someone or their achievements, possessions, or perceived advantages.

assisant-pitfalls jealousy

one horrible feeling we tend to feel sometimes is when we see others attaining what we want, and we want to do (silently inside us) is to snatch it away from them (yes we’re not saints all the time)

Hurt:

cause pain or injury to, or (of a part of the body) suffer pain

0e845e827d5d29a098110894b1219412 scratches-on-human-skin shattered-heart

physical vs emotional pain.

physical – blood, scratched skin etc.

emotional – a pain that takes a while to get rid of, silently suffering inside, extreme pain, feeling like you’re about to go crazy, heart broken.

Loneliness:

sadness because one has no friends or company

“all by myself… dont wanna be all by myself anymore…”

dark; sad; alone. what’s the purpose of going on when it’s so quietly loud inside your head?

Agony:

extreme physical or mental suffering

3bec0edeff2cfa9f0c7882bd75a5e396 martina_dankova_dark_white_agony tumblr_m1i46smkyb1qgnal1

a pain so extreme that sometimes you cry, sometimes so used to it that you feel numb.

Anxiety:

a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome.

anxiety attacks arent pretty. you could feel totally fine at a moment until an attack suddenly hits you, your heart starts to palpitate and you can’t breathe. you feel suffocated.

Hysteria:

1 . exaggerated or uncontrollable emotion or excitement

2 . an old-fashioned term for a psychological disorder characterized by conversion of psychological stress into physical symptoms (somatization) or a change in self-awareness (such as a fugue state or selective amnesia).

pain, mental suffering. silently suffering inside. AHHH.

note to self: pay attention to every adjective from the descriptions!

emo – ink on brush

another session on monoprint experimentation.

i focused more on creating textures and patterns from brushes unlike last week where props were involved.

acrylic paint and calligraphy ink were both of my mediums used.

with no intention of creating a specific type of line work in mind, i went with the flow with whatever my hand took me with.

the results actually turned out quite well. there were some that i was satisfied with such as for the emotion “hurt” where i created sharp lines by using the edges of the metal palette knife. the patterns were inspired from the cuts and blood we’d usually get from a fall.

i also realized that dry inked brushes tend to give out better results for depressive emotions as it creates a raw, messy, clouded feeling.

next: happy emotions.

emo – monoprint #1

greetings,

for today’s 2D lesson (23rd aug), we had a chance to experiment with mono printing, where we created prints and patterns from the props that we brought, and also things we could get hold of in the silkscreen room &studio. heh.

the props that i brought were star anise and a bendy straw (the neck was the part that i was interested in in creating patterns).

was quite disappointed with the turnout as i thought that i could create interesting patterns from its shape but it turned out otherwise because of its difference in smoothness. the point of base of my star anise ended up being the only point of contact.

scrunched up cling filmPhoto 23-8-16, 09 55 40File 29-8-16, 17 29 14

there was a roll of cling film available, so i decided to use the opportunity to find a use for it. i decided to scrunch up a piece of it and dab it with ink. the results were quite interesting on its own because every stamp created rather different patterns. i quite like how it looks when they all come together; messy yet rather clutter-ly interesting because of the difference weightage.

03 –

banana leaf-ish string

decided to paint the string with black ink and rubbed it against on my paper. there was some kind of textured pattern but i feel that it just looks messy.

04 –

star anise, brush, tissue paperPhoto 23-8-16, 10 39 48

dabbed the brush with ink and swirled it around on my paper.

just like the cling wrap, i scrunched up a piece of tissue and did the same to it. the results were almost similar as the cling wrap.

banana leaf string on roller, brush, straw endPhoto 23-8-16, 11 41 38

i decided to experiment more with the banana leaf string, so i decided to place some on the roller. it created interesting patterns, especially the visual of the messy lines. maybe i could draw some inspiration from that for my project.

nothing fancy for the second one but just ink on brush. shirley said that my patterns i created so far were lacking in tensions (which were essential, or rather recommended for the brief), so i decided to play around by added some pressure at some areas while brushing over on my paper. it could be explored further though.

the third one was created from my straw end using calligraphy ink (which was more liberating to work with for its loose viscosity i feel). i would say this was the best out of everything because there is definitely a play in tensions through its difference in line weightage. turned out the straw end gave better results than the neck. ha ha
