Nursery Rhyme Final

The 2 phrases I’ve used are ‘Jack and Jill went up the hill’ and ‘To fetch a pail of water.’

For the first composition of ‘Jack and Jill went up the hill’, I’ve interpreted Jack and Jill as 2 animals (cat and mouse) combining with human anatomy. They are going up the castle, which is the metaphor for hill. I decided to do that as I felt that the layout should not be too direct as to them going up the hill but using something else to depict that.

For the second composition of ‘Jack and Jill went up the hill’, I’ve decided to use 2 objects to portray Jack and Jill that are ice cream and gummy bear. They are going up the candy land using a skateboard to show them going up the hill in an indirect way.

For the first composition of ’To fetch a pail of water’, I’ve thought of the layout as Jack and Jill as frogs in a water cave underneath a well. This shows that they are collecting water with nature surrounding the well.

For the second composition of ‘To fetch a pail of water’, I decided to go with 2 children with eyes of an amphibian or reptile was that children were transforming to amphibians due to the environment changes. The background shows a desert that have 2 cactus in the whole place. The 2 characters are in a cup with water that is shown as the last 2 survive.

2D Project 1: Lines

Research:

Lines project:

SAM_0690

The 3 expressions that I have chosen are sloven, aggressive and psychotic.

For sloven, I decided to use hair as lines because it depicts messy when I just place the hair is a way that it’s anyhow placed.

For aggressive, the lines used are thick and the medium I used is mono print. Through Franz Kline work, thick lines are used which depicts anger so I decided to use that idea on my work.

For psychotic, I see it as fingernails scratches on painted walls. Through my research of Emma Kunz, I see that the patients she deals with are those who are mentally unstable and through that I decided to linked it to psychotic. Not only that, the works done by Julie Mehretu also made me thought of psychotic. Therefore, I decided to combine them to create the line work as being scratched in a psychotic way. I used black and white paint with white glue and using a stick to show the line work.
