4DII: PROJECT 3 FINAL PROPOSAL (2)

After further discussion and research, we realised that we lacked interaction with the books itself. Hence, we improved on our idea and decided to take out our own images, instead replacing it with the images already found in the books.

Title: Judge a Book by its Cover

Team Members: Vanessa Ang, Sammi Neo

Project Focus: To bring attention to the forgotten books through user experience.

Project Write- up:

Do you still read in libraries?

Nowadays, most people come into the library to study, use their laptops, or sleep. Many have forgotten the original purpose of a library: to read books. The books now lay obsolete on their shelves, untouched. Through this project, we hope to bring you through a visual-audio experience from the perspective of a book.

Project Description: Before entering, the participant is prompted to access the link or the QR code on their phones, which leads them to a playlist of audio files. The participant then walks through the aisle of books, where they will notice chainsaws sticking out of books. These chainsaws act as bookmarks, where the participant opens the book to the bookmarked page. Following the order of the chainsaws, which are numbered 1 to 5,  the participant will listen to the respective audio files and look at the bookmarked page, bringing their attention to the forgotten books in the library.
