I wanted to try the idea of my journey to school daily, with all the crowd at the MRT Stations and bus interchange as well as the busy traffics. I wanted to capture what and how the sceneries looks like during the time I make my way to school.
So today I went to school by car, so I thought why not have variations — images of journey to school by car and by public transport, then I could compile them up and include the journey back from school as well to complete the entire idea.
As of now, I captured several scenes…
Then I also captured a few for the journey from school…
As of now, the idea is not certain thus I will still look into more ideas and try them out.
This idea just came to me slightly at the last minute while I was walking home from buying dinner for my family. I was just strolling along the park when I saw the sun was setting. It struck me that maybe I could have this concept of me capturing the movement of the Sun or more like Journey with/of the Sun. So I gave it a little try….
So then I was thinking if this idea could be “it”. However, there were still thoughts of “What if it’s a journey of sunset?” or “What if it’s a journey of the sun (for example, from dawn to dusk)” which means that I’d have to be out certain times of the day to actually capture the moments of the sun and its position or somewhat.
Fret not, I still have a few ideas that I’d want to try these few days.
After consultation, I retake my photos to include myself in the pictures. This time round was emphasizing on the fragments of the polaroid.
These fragments shows about what I like or what I own or anything about me related to the place etc. For example: my room, my garden-that-I-walk-pass-everyday, my friend, my favourite past time, my view from my window, my #OOTD, and my view from the roof.
At the end of the day, after setting up the films on the wall, I felt rather accomplished that I managed to complete this assignment. I mean, don’t you feel great looking at your photos nicely set on the wall, imagining it to be in the museum gallery or exhibition?
At first, it was more of my friend being in the picture when I realised that I should have been the one in it.
I wanted to make the assignment “Self Portrait with Polaroid”, which emphasizes on experience on using the polaroid — how exciting first timers would get when they use the camera, how the camera prints the film, how we could play with different exposures because sometimes we are just uncertain if this aperture is the right one following the weather.
I also experimented on the instant collage I could make by researching the day before so that I could have a few ideas how to go about doing it. The first try did not work, but the consecutive ones I captured was pretty interesting I might say. *first timer alert doing such thing*
Research was found that one can actually add in their own manual photo effect — “destroying” the instax film by poking(?), drawing(?) on the plastic while the image is developing. There are a few more of these but I wasn’t confident that it’ll work well if I ever tried it.
